My name is Shyama Nair. I am a house-wife. A native of Ambalapuzha (Thakazhi), now settled at Fort Kochi (Ernakulum Dist).
I have two children, one daughter and one son, both married and settled. My husband is retired from Defence. Me and my son (long career and hospitality experience), are operating a Home stay – named “SILVERWEED” on the first floor of our house at Fort Kochi, under proper licence from concerned local body and accreditation from DTPC since past 4 years. I have been cooking various types of dishes (both veg and non-veg) since my childhood. My Mother and her 2 Sisters hugely influenced my culinary adventure and they were both wonderful inspirations in my learning journey of cooking.
After spending most of my day in the kitchen, preparing various dishes, experimenting with different recipes, reading articles appearing on different magazines and weekly newspapers. I was able to enhance my knowledge about my art of cooking and develop my own way of cooking and baking them. This helped me to gain confidence to happily share with all the guests and students who are staying in the Home stay all my unique culinary creations.
Because of my long years experience in the kitchen I am able to provide any type of South Indian / Kerala food in order to satisfy individual needs of our guests.
I am extremely happy to provide our guests culinary traning (classes) and share my passion for cooking.
So far about 30, if not more, foreign tourists have attended my cooking classes. During the last month, ten Japanese guests (all ladies) had attended my classes spreading over 4 days for a total of 17 dishes.
Despite of the tremendous efforts involved I really enjoy every minute of experimenting with food and share the joy with the others.
I am thrilled that our guest return and we have very happy reviews. I welcome and treat all our customers like member of out family.Me and my husband always make sure to make their stay the most enjoyable.
I am happy to mention here, that I have received First Prize in the district level cooking competition ‘ATHAM PATHU RUCHI’ organised by MAZHAVIL MANORAMA during August 2015, which was published in the news paper as well as relayed through TV and YouTube.
I keep my experiments on new items whenever and whereever I come across so as to provide same to my guests. My day starts at 5 am and ends at 10pm. For this all my family members extend their whole-hearted support.
